Hellfest – Samedi 22 juin 2019 – Jour 2
Deuxième jour du Hellfest. Ensoleillé, avec une température élevée (un bon 45°). On ressort crème solaire et chapeau, pour éviter insolation et coups de soleil
Nous arrivons sur le site. Les metalleux sont nettement plus nombreux que la veille. Il faut dire aussi que les groupes d’aujourd’hui sont extra : ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Anthrax et d’autres bien connus du public.
Une grande hâte de les voir enfin. Il est temps d’aller se placer au pit photo, du côté des mainstages.
Je suis arrivée un peu plus tard, j’ai dû me reposer avant de venir shooter les concerts.

Second day of Hellfest. Sunny, with a high temperature (a good 45 °). We come out sunscreen and hat, to avoid sunstroke and sunburn. 🙂
We arrive on the site. The metalheads are much more numerous than the day before. It must also be said that today’s groups are extra: ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Anthrax and others well known to the public.
A great hurry to see them finally. It’s time to go to the photo pit, on the side of the mainstages.

Je commence avec le groupe:
Böhse Onkelz (15h55/16h40) Mainstage 2
Le groupe allemand arrive sur scène en forme, pour lancer le premier titre du concert : « Lack und Leder« . Le ton est donné : puissance, riffs et énergie. Un bon mélange pour faire un bon live. Kevin Russell le chanteur, s’en donne à cœur-joie, pour le plaisir du public.
Les titres se suivent : « Gehasst« , « Verdammt« , « Vergöttert« , « Keine ist wie du« , « Ich bin in Dir« , un petit air de Rammstein, mais vraiment petit . Le public est conquis par le groupe allemand.
Vs English:
The German band arrives on stage in form, to launch the first title of the concert: « Lack und Leder« . The tone is given: power, riffs and energy. A good mix to make a good live. Kevin Russell the singer, gives himself to heart-joy, for the pleasure of the public.
The titles follow each other: « Gehasst« , « Verdammt« , « Vergöttert« , « Keine ist wie du« , « Ich bin in Dir« , a little air of Rammstein, but really small :). The audience is conquered by the German group.

Deadland Ritual (16h45/17h30), Mainstage 1
Nous découvrons que les membres de ce groupe ne sont pas des inconnus du public. A la basse : Geezer, suivi de Matt Sorum (batterie) qui viens de Guns’n’Roses et de Velvet revolver. Puis, Steve Stevens (Guitare) ancien de Billy idol, et pour finir au chant, Franky Perez (Apocalyptica), que du beau monde pour ce concert sur le mainstage. Le show démarre avec le titre « Symptom of the Universe » (cover de Black Sabbath) puis 2 autres titres, dont un cover de Velvet Revolver : « Slither« . Pour suivre, un cover de Billy Idol : « Rebel Yell« , de très bon morceaux, qui ont ravi le public. Setlist complétée de 4 autres titres (compositions). En dehors des covers, c’était sympa à écouter, un très bon moment.

We discover that members of this group are not unknown to the public. On bass: Geezer, followed by Matt Sorum (drums) who come from Guns’n’Roses and Velvet revolver. Eagles of death metal (17h35 /18h20) Mainstage 2
Après le terrible attentat du 13 novembre 2015, le groupe revenait en France pour le plaisir du public du Hellfest. Nos californiens, plus en forme que jamais, joueront : « Born on the Bayou« , « I Only Want You« , « Don’t Speak » (I Came to Make a Bang!) et d’autres titres.
Pendant le concert, le chanteur s’est adressé au public pour un message de soutien, suite aux attentats du Bataclan et leurs victimes. Un message poignant et plein d’émotion qui a ému le public : « Je vous aime [en français dans le texte]. Je me sens chez moi. Vous ne nous avez pas laissé tomber…« . Il arborait le badge de l’association « Life for Paris »
Le show est reparti de plus belle après ce petit message. Avec entre autres une reprise de Mötörhead très rapide, et parfaitement interprété par la demoiselle à la basse. Jesse a repris le micro, pour finir le concert. Le public était très réceptif. A la fin du concert, une belle salve d’applaudissement pour les Eagles of Death Metal. L’émotion était bien présente, un concert que l’on n’oubliera pas de si peu.

After the terrible attack of November 13, 2015, the group returned to France for the pleasure of the public of Hellfest. Our Californians, more fit than ever, will be playing « Born on the Bayou« , « I Only Want You« , « Do not Speak » and other titles.
During the concert, the singer addressed the public for a message of support, following the attacks of the Bataclan and their victims. A poignant and emotional message that moved the audience: « I love you [in French in the text] I feel at home, you have not let us down …« . He wore the badge of the association « Life for Paris »
The show started again after this little message. With among others a very fast Mötörhead cover, perfectly interpreted by the lady on the bass. Jesse took over the microphone, to finish the concert. The audience was very receptive. At the end of the concert, a nice round of applause for the Eagles of Death Metal. The emotion was present, a concert that we will not forget so little.

Eagles death metal 22/06/2019
Whitesnake (18h25 / 19h25) Mainstage 1
On retrouve 7 ans après leur dernier passage, le groupe Whitesnake. Le serpent blanc est de retour pour enflammer la scène du Hellfest avec la voix puissante de David Coverdale. Son arrivée sur scène hypnotise le public, sans oublier les fans. La foule est dense devant la scène, l’emplacement est complet.
On retrouve le style bien connu du groupe, tel que du blues fiévreux, mais aussi du rock bien épuré, et de jolies balades, pour ravir tout le monde. Pendant tout le show David se lâche, fait des gestes assez suggestifs avec son micro. Le public est conquis, ça applaudie, ça hurle, malgré la forte chaleur. Le groupe a assuré.

We find 7 years after their last visit, the Whitesnake group. The white snake is back to ignite the Hellfest scene with David Coverdale‘s powerful voice. His arrival on stage hypnotizes the audience, not to mention the fans. The crowd is dense in front of the stage.
We find the well-known style of the group, such as feverish blues, but also clean rock, and pretty walks, to delight everyone. During all the show David is loose, makes suggestive gestures with his microphone. The public is conquered, it applauds, it’s ok, despite the strong heat. The group assured.

Whitesnake, 22/06/2019
Within Temptation (19h30/20h30) Mainstage 2
On ne présente plus le groupe de Sharon, qui depuis plus de 20 ans, tourne dans tous les pays pour des dates à chaque fois sold-out.
Sharon arrive sur scène avec un drapeau blanc pour interpréter le premier titre : « Raise Your Banner« . Le public est envoûté par sa voix, c’est l’hystérie.
La setlist se compose de titres aux mélodies sombres et élégantes, dont certains issus du nouvel album du groupe. Ambiance théâtrale avec un côté gothique, avec du raffinement pour le plaisir des fans, un très bon moment.

No longer present Sharon’s group, which for more than 20 years, tours in all countries for dates each time sold-out.
Sharon arrives on stage with a white flag to interpret the first title: « Raise Your Banner« . The audience is bewitched by his voice, it’s hysteria.
The setlist consists of titles with dark and elegant melodies, including some from the band’s new album. Theatrical atmosphere with a gothic side, with refinement for the pleasure of the fans, a very good time.

Def Leppard (20h35 /21h50) Mainstage 1
La dernière fois où le groupe est venu au Hellfest, c’était en 2013, après 17 ans d’absence en France. Je l’avais malheureusement raté à cette époque, mais me voilà pour assister au concert d’un groupe de ma jeunesse . Une entrée en scène pleine d’énergie avec une reprise de Depeche Mode : « Personal Jesus« . Bien sûr le public chante en chœur sans attendre. Suivent : « Rocket » (1983 sur l’album Hysteria), puis « Animal » (1987) et bien d’autres titres. Joe Elliott est toujours charismatique, pour le plus grand plaisir des fans venues écouter Def Leppard chanter sur la mainstage, un pur moment. On n’oubliera pas Rick Allen, qui assure à la batterie, et qui m’a toujours fasciné, sans oublier les acolytes du groupe (Rick, Vivian et Phil). Un combo au top de sa forme, qui nous a permis de revenir dans les années 80, sans Delorean ;-).

The last time the band came to Hellfest was in 2013, after 17 years of absence in France. I had unfortunately missed it at that time, but here I am to attend the concert of a group of my youth :). Entering the stage full of energy with a cover of Depeche Mode: « Personal Jesus« . Of course the audience sings in chorus without waiting. Then follow: « Rocket » (1983 on the album Hysteria), then « Animal » (1987) and many other titles. Joe Elliott is always charismatic, to the delight of the fans who came to listen to Def Leppard singing on the mainstage, a pure moment. We will not forget Rick Allen, who teaches drums, and who has always fascinated me, not to mention the group’s acolytes (Rick, Vivian and Phil). A combo in top form, which allowed us to return in the 80s, without Delorean ;-).

ZZ Top (21h55 / 22h55) Mainstage 2
Ravie de voir nos papys barbus du rock. La formation, fondée en 1969 est toujours à l’attaque pour un très bon concert. Depuis plus de 50 ans le trio nous joue du bon vieux rock, bien rétro , du blues et du boogie. Que demander de mieux pour tous les fans ?
Le groupe est présent pour la troisième fois au Hellfest. Quel plaisir de les voir enflammer le public présent, avec le premier titre : « Got Me Under Pressure » (1983). Un titre incontournable (revenons en enfance), suivi de : « I Thank You« , « Waitin’ for the Bus » (1973), « Jesus Just Left Chicago » (1973), des titres d’un temps où je n’étais pas encore née. Le groupe nous a offert un show coloré, où les membres étaient en forme et souriants. Le batteur n’a pas gardé sa légendaire barbe, tant pis. Il en reste deux sur trois. On s’en remettra après ce très bon moment avec des légendes du rock.

Nice to see our bearded granddads of rock. The formation, founded in 1969 is still on the attack for a very good concert. For more than 50 years, the trio has been playing good old-fashioned rock’n’roll, blues and boogie. What could be better for all fans?
The group is present for the third time at Hellfest. What a pleasure to see them ignite the present audience, with the first title: « Got Me Under Pressure » (1983). An unmissable title (let’s go back to childhood), followed by: « I Thank You« , « Waitin ‘for the Bus » (1973), « Jesus Just Left Chicago » (1973), titles of a time when I was not not yet born. The band gave us a colorful show, where the members were fit and smiling. The drummer did not keep his legendary beard, too bad. There are two out of three left. We will recover after this great time with rock legends.

La soirée se finit pour moi. Il est temps de traverser la foule, pour faire quelques photos de nuit, puis manger et rentrer au gite, pour un repos bien mérité, après une journée de dingue.
